I'm warning upfront: there's nothin' special in these particular vids, they simply demonstrate me and others in co-op.

Just a test version of them.

My point is to figure out if such vidz would be popular, if I make those showing various tactical moves for playing TheHell.

Vid #1 - learn to corner ranged attackers

Vid #2 - a short video, showing a cooperation game played via Hamachi

Vid #3 - learn how to set walls to separate yourself from too many melee attackers.

Vid #4 - learn how to lure ranged attackers and corner them without taking much damage.

Vid #5 - use runes to weaken the enemy.

What's your opinion?

Very nice videos. Quite useful to show the cornering technique so new melee players can kill ranged foes with ease.

hey man i have a question.

I started your game and went into lvl 3 with a mage without dying once

now i got some things to mention.
1) if i use books my spells increase but neither my damages goes up nor my mana cost go down
2) in lvl 4 i have no chance because of the above
3) is there a reason why i can only kill with holy bolt? All my other attacks make nearly 0 damage^^
4) in lvl 4 even my holy bolt is kinda useless against this mini king leorics and i had to leave the game

am i doing something wrong or is it really that hard?^^

All of the Cathedral (except for The Butcher) is crawling with Undead. Basically, you will have a chance for killing some of them by Fire, Lightning or Magic but mainly on Purgatory mode. On Doom mode they're all triple or quadra immune and basically only affected by Holy Bolts. On Horror mode you also use Holy Bolt as your main spell there. Simply because it affects them all and it has decent damage (especially, at the very beginning).

Note: every area consists of 4 levels in the game. And every last level of the area is a hard one. Thus level 4 is the gathering of the worst forces of Cathedral. No wonder you got difficulties there. Actually, the game is NOT meant to be beaten without restarts. It CAN but that is VERY hard you know. It also depends on how lucky you get with all the drops, monster and boss placing, and dungeon layouts.

The damage you do with Holy Bolt does increase with your levelups and your Magic stat. Not quickly though. And that's what makes you face a great challenge on floor 4. It is supposed to be hard. But it is very well doable mind you. Many have done the area successfully. And that is because of keeping on experimenting and trying different things.

As a Mage you might want to master setting fire or lightning walls to stop them from approaching you. Or you might just lure them one at a time. Maybe lure them to a doorway so that they won't attack you in groups. Experiment to find your best tactics.

The Hell is the hardest of all HellFire mods. Don't expect it to be easy. It allows you to build some ultra powerful characters, but the opposition is also very tough.

Last note: cathedral contains undead, but later you'll have to deal with animals and demons, which means you'll have to switch tactics and elemental damage fast. The only other area where you come across Undead is Crypt level 1, but the whole Crypt is a one big Uber area. Those brutes there show no mercy.

I also noticed that a low spell level upgrade doesn't change anything (like Olaftank said, neither damage nor mana cost). Does that mean +slvl bonus is only interesting with high level spell ? (like 10 or 15 ?)

Actually, I received a lot of feedback on Holy Bolt and many said its damage was too high for the beginning. As was suggested I lowered HB damage so that it's default again.

Default is:
Min.Dmg: 9+CLVL
Max.Dmg: 18+CLVL
Speed: 16+2*SLVL

So, HB damage will (for now) depend on CLVL. MAGIC doesn't raise its damage. And SLVL will only increase HB flight speed. This is ok though, because, DLVL-4 monsters have other weaknesses (apart from HB). Lightning or Fire walls might be of great help there.

Note: new HolyBolt formula applies for versions 1.56d+
